This position involves the support of the development of Operations and/or Business Support Systems solutions based on the Oracle Communications Global Business Unit software products. As a member of a solution delivery team, led by Oracle Communications Consulting, a System Integrator or a Customer, the Consultant provides hands-on solution development and/or deployment skills.

Scope overview of Consultant at Telecommunications Consulting:

The role offers extensive opportunity to gain significant consulting skills in a customer environment:

• Customer facing role
• Possible extensive travel across EMEA and may involve up to 80% of time working at customer locations.
• Working in a multi disciplined team on project deliveries
• Telecommunications operator processes and methods experiences
• Providing solutions to customer problems
• Developing and configuring B/OSS solutions for telecommunications and possibly complementary domains where CGBU products are licenced
• Providing technical assistance during the implementation of the software solution

Responsibilities of Consultant at Telecommunications Consulting:

1. Responsible for assisting in the preparation of design specifications.
2. Responsible for assisting in the preparation of test specifications.
3. Participation in project planning, including delivery estimation and responsible for executing tasks according to the plan.
4. Responsible for providing working knowledge of one or more of Oracle Communications B/OSS products.
5. Participate in JAD (Joint Application Discussions) sessions and participate in solution architecture design and prototyping where appropriate.
6. Responsible for developing software models to meet requirements and perform accurate coding and documentation of software.
7. Responsible for assisting in the execution of test regimes.
8. Responsible for assisting in the roll-out activities associated with the implementation of a new B/OSS solution.
9. Responsible for the support of Oracle Communications B/OSS products and extensions used in solutions, solving problems arising in development and production environments


Knowledge and Technical Skills:

• Ideally 1 to 3 years software design, development and deployment experience to high standards
• Ideally experience of the telecommunications industry with network technologies and network management processes.
• Experience of working on software deployment projects
• Understanding of J2EE architectures
• Experience with C/C++ and java languages
• Ideally knowledge/experience of systems integration disciplines and developing integrated solutions
• Experience with database technologies, ideally Oracle DB, Oracle Coherence or NoSQL
• Experience of the software lifecycle stages, including requirements gathering, analysis and design stages.
• Ideally experience with software systems and architectures often used by telecommunications operators (MetaSolv, Telcordia, Tertio, Amdocs, Cramer, Comptel, TeMIP, Vitria, TibCo…)

• Good communication (oral and written) skills, with the ability to peer with technical teams and be able to abstract to communicate clearly to wider project and customer teams
• Ability to learn new skills as part of a multi-disciplined team
• Ability to self start, to undertake planning of own activities and to execute according to the plan

Education & Experience:

• Degree or equivalent in Software Engineering or similar technical discipline.
• 1 to 3 years experience in the development and implementation of information technology systems/solutions.
